Hi! I'm Dan from Portugal I'm studying to be a designer and doing a work about bee boxes.

Can you fellas answer to some questions?
Do you know witch company or person made the first be box?
Do you think these boxes show results to farmers or gardeners?

Big thanks

No doubt boxes had been used to keep bees but Langstroth was the man who designed the first 'logical' bee box or hive.

Langstroth are the industry standard and yes, show results when bees are used to pollinate crops if that's what you mean.

There is a vast amount of information on the web about these things.

Actually Langstroth wasn't- but haven't got the previous to hand - will be back...

You did challenge me!! :sifone:
And not from a magazine....

Modern hives developed:

WBC 1890
Modified Dadant 1917
National 1920’s, Deep National 1946 modified 1960
Smith post 1920
Warre (Abbé Émile Warré 1867-1951) Hive 1945
Commercial 1960’s
Modern Kenyan TBH 1965 (Kenyan sloping, Tanzanian vertical sides)
Dartington 1975

Many thanks for your replies!
I wasn't talking about hives but about shelters (those small boxes)
So I ask again if any of you knows witch company or person made the first bee box / bee shelter???

Big thanks
