    Overwintering,double brood or not?

My one colony grew very quickly,so I put on a second brood box(National hive)earlier this year. Should I leave it like that overwinter,or will enough bees die off so I return to a single box. Just coming to the end of my first year of beekeeping, this forum has been so useful. Thanks.

    Another Maqs question.

I have my bees on a double brood box, with one super on. I read on another thread that the Maqs strips should be put on whilst the super is in place. Should I extract my last honey before treating?Does the strip taint in any way? Thanks.

    To start now or not

I got my colony on July 29th last year.Got it through the winter with no problem. Like you, I have local mentors. Mucked up a a/s,my hive re queened its self.Have taken of about 15lbs honey so far this season. If you can cope with the stress/drama,go for it

    First suit

We both have overalls with fencing hoods, purely and simply because if you have to drive in your suit for any reason, the hoods lie flat. We bought our suits from a company called Buzz. They are good quality cotton, and not expensive.

    Still nothing in my super.

I have a good colony who overwintered well.On the advice of my bee mentor,I put on a second broodbox(national)with undrawn foundation on 31st March. Queen cell identification.

Somewhere on the forum is a leaflet from the Scottish Beekeepers, identifying different queen cells. I want to print it,but now can`t find it:hairpull: Can anyone point me in the right direction please. :thanks:

Possibly a daft question, but need to know!

I am working on a double brood national. The top broodbox isn`t completely drawn out,but the OSR is in flower, and I don`t want to miss out. Can I put a super on,or do I have to wait, and possible miss out. This is my first spring season.
