Many thanks for both replies.So what is the stimulus for the bees to decide what time of day to orientate? weather conditions? sun direction? why do hives differ from each other? I find bees so fascinating,being a newbie there is so much to learn,day at a time i say!

Hello,do bees tend to do their orientation flights at the same time of the day?There seems to be a lot of extra activity at the front of my hive,mid afternoon.Lots of bees moving up and down,back and forth.Many thanks.
