    Centrifuge / Extractor

Hi All I hope someone can offer some assistance, I've been given an extractor - but can't work out how it works... I can't post photos but essentially it is a white plastic dustbin, with a metal rack inside which turns. Built into the rack outer edge are holders which I assume are to hold...

    Japanese Knotweed

Its one of the few plants still flowering (mid Sept), so has that in its favour. It normally only grows near water ie along riverbanks, so not sure if heather is a viable alternative... Where we live it has displaced all the brambles and nettles on the banks - don't miss the nettles too much...

    confused about this feeding lark....

Bit off subject but may help someone - I was given a "proper" aluminium bee feeder (donut shaped vessel)- but these just seemed to be an efficient way to drown bees. scavenged frames after extraction

Thanks jenkinsbrynmair, So the bees will know the supers above the board are not part of the hive, and won't try to include them as part of the hive... Clever ! Thanks

    scavenged frames after extraction

Thank you for your advice, that's essentially what I did, but when I removed the supers they were full of bees....so my issue was how to deal with that. Currently they are beside the original hive, and I am hoping the bees will find their way home to the other hive...

    scavenged frames after extraction

I was given one hive of bees this summer, which so far has been very successful. I do have a question... I harvested the honey last weekend and read in several of my bee books to let the colony scavenge/clean off the frames and equiment after extraction. I left the empty, sticky frames...

    Apidea Instructions

Hi, I am new to bees, and am learning quickly. I was given 2 hives, one with bees the other without I was given one of these Apidea boxes with the "odds and ends" I was given. I intend to get a swarm to populate the second hive, but I have a question re: Apidea box for future use. I...
