    Remove a hiden bee colony

Hi A friend of mine has a wild colony stuck in a chimney, now for a number of years. Is there any way to lure out the queen and hence the whole colony? If I can do this I think I have a friend for life :-) any help greatly appreciated, Declan

    How to sanitise wax?

Yes, I had several hives going into winter 2012/2013 but suffered heavy loses as did many here in Sweden. Hence the large amount of wax. Hoping for the best next spring. This year is the first time I'm trying to do foundation myself. I plan on making a silicon mould. It is probably very slow if...

    How to sanitise wax?

Hi! I have recently taken wax from some frames. Some of which had a little mould and I suspect some had wax moth infestation. I have melted and remelted the wax, cleaning off the sediment each time. Is that sufficient or must I sanitise the wax somehow before using it as foundation next season...

    Frame thickness

Those pins on the topbar (sorry about the poor image) are just to fix the wire thread on. In the design I use the place ment of the studes from top does not have to be exact and you always place the 2 screws to the left as you face the frame. When you place the fames together they will have 4 in...

    Frame thickness

Thank you itma & MuswellMetro! 35mm sounds good. I did not know what the standard was. By the way what is meant by (+4, -0)? This design is a very popular here in Sweden, see attached pictures to see the actual frame. There is a metal stud at the short sides and "spacers" on the faces. If you...

framed I've attached drawing of a frame for the frame I intend to build A = 366mm B = 222 mm C = D = E = 396 mm these are the measurements for a Swedish LagNormal (LN) frame. I know that wood for a frame is only 0.6 pounds but there is no fun in that :-) I want to buy a 2x4 or at least some...

    Fondant Recipe

Unfortunitelly I'm based in Stockholm and when I mentioned fondant to the local baker he priced it at 5 to 10 times the price of sugar. I don't know what the name is for the substance mentioned here in Sweden. I still come back to the question is a hard result ok? /DS

    Fondant DIY

I'm now retiring from the fondant making business. I could not get it soft enough. I suspect my thermometer is doddgy. I'm going to buy Apifond which is twice the price of sugar here in Sweden but I think will work out handier and cheaper in the long run :-) I tried bakaries but they took 3...

    Fondant DIY

I'm trying to make homemade fondant. I'm now making my forth batch and hope this will be the "one". My question just now is if I can use the first 3 batches which resulted in platters as hard as rock. Can I give these to the girls? Perhaps I can melt them again? Any help greatly appreciated, D
