    Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus

I have just had the bee inspector around to see my colony. He was not overly concerned, and felt they were on their way to overcoming the virus. On that basis, he didn't recommend any significant course of action. That's a relief!

    Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus

I performed a Snelgrove split in mid May, and the two nucs created are not showing signs of the problem. At the moment all three hives are isolated in an apiary...

    Splits / nucs

I am beginning to sound like a one man Wally Shaw fanclub! Go to the WBKA website and look in the information section for a paper about snelgrove boards, and how to use them. queen not looking too good!!

Is she still laying? If so, you could just take her out and the colony will make an emergency queen cell, or do nothing and wait for the colony to decide the next step. If they make another supercedure cell, don't tear it down! If she isn't laying, then I would take her out, and put a frame with...

    Where is the Queen?

Queen will emerge in 16 days, not 23 - she will start laying eggs her self if successfully mated from about 23 days onwards.Current conditions may mean a significantly longer wait for eggs to be laid!
