    Vapourising Oxalic, Honey Withdrawal period.

I'm planning on doing a split on one of my hives when strong enough for a beginner friend. I want to give them the best start varroa wise as I can, how long after vapourising can supers be added? And what about timings of treatment whilst raising and mating a queen?

    Preparing bees for auction

I am considering disposing of one spare colony in our local beekeeping auction on 29th march. I have read the FERA leaflet on selling nucs as basic guidance. Does anyone have any suggestions as how best to prepare them over the next month.

Leaving negative feed back on ebay

I'm having trouble with an ebay purchase. It has not been delivered and the seller has not replied to any of my messages. I intend to leave negative feed back for the first time. What is going on with the feed back on ebay? A lot of people leave negative messages yet still rate it as a positive...

    Queen moves hive.

I put a mated queen into a mini nuc while I used her hive for queen rearing. She and her entourage absconded about a week ago, despite the disc on the nuc being set to keep her in. Just found her today in a hopelessly queen less split at the other end of the apiary. Shame she is surplus to...

    Time for Change?

Isn't it time for the snowman and the Santa bee at the top of the page to be replaced by something more spring like? A nice big smiley sun perhaps?:nature-smiley-011:

    Which Lime tree?

I'm planning on planting a few Lime trees, am I correct in assuming that it is the Small leaved lime that is much loved by our bees.

    £700 million just flew by.

10 Typhoons, 9 in red arrows diamond style formation. I know it was rumoured that the red arrows may be getting them, is anyone out there in the know? Is it just me that thinks perhaps in these austere times, when we struggle to afford to feed our bees through the summer, that maybe they should...

    Queen Bee welfare Trust

All this talk of dogs and chickens got me thinking (as one is encouraged to do round these parts), chickens have the British Hen Welfare Trust and Greyhounds Have The Greyhound Trust, but there is nothing for the queen bee. My feeling is that if the British public were to get wind of the...
