Looking for an apiary near Caversham Road in Reading.

Hi all, I moved to Reading recently and unfortunately find myself without a place to keep my two hives. :( Unfortunately I don't own a car, so it will have to be within walking distance of Caversham Road. Any help is very much appreciated. Kind regards, Rob.

    Heated honey going sour?

Hi all, A friend of mine recently heated honey for cooking and it turned really sour. I haven't experienced this myself and google doesn't seem to come up with anything useful either. Has anyone ever experienced this? Cheers! Rob.

Mixing your own oxalic acid solution?

Hi all, Last year I bought half a litre of pre-mixed oxalic acid solution and only used 50ml of that. It has now expired. This year I'll need 100ml, as I've got a second hive. Still seems like quite a waste though. How easy/dangerous is it to mix your own solution? Cheers, Rob.

How small do mouseguard holes need to be?

Just wondering, as I currently have one of those metal strips with holes in them on and the ladies seem to be struggling when pushing out the dead bodies. I've heard before of putting nails through a reduced entrance to create bars. Is that a better option? Cheers!

Has anyone ever tried using Thorne's packaging material as smoker fuel?

Just wondering, as they sent me loads of that shredded cardboard with my last order and it looks quite suitable for burning. :)

CBKA Beekeeping for Beginners Course 2012?

Hi all, Does anyone know when the Cambridgeshire Beekeepers' Association Beepkeeping for Beginners Course 2012 begins? I've filled out the mailform to indicate I'm interested, but haven't heard anything back yet. I realise it's run by volunteers, so it might take some time to hear back, but I...
