    Hi all, I have been told that this should not be done but given no real reason why? My reasoning is if her majesty cannot get out then no worries about swarming. Any sound answers please or am I having a senior moment and forgetting something very basic.

    how close, bait hive?

    I fancy trying putting out a bait hive in my out apiary but don't know how close to my other hives I can place it, I wold like to place it in a perminant position next to another active hive,is this OK??

    What did you do in the Apiary today?

    Dropped in on my hives this morning to check fondant levels and to my suprise all 5 hives were realy active, nothing going in to the hives but so pleased to see the bees out having a little flutter. The tempreture was about 7 degrees C.

    Pros & cons of 14 x12 brood

    Hi everyone, New to this forum and in my 3rd year of beekeeping. I have national hives and I am thinking of altering my brood boxes to 14x12 as I have heard that it may help in the prevention of my biggest concern, swarming. Any advice would be much be appriciated. BC
