Hi Cazza how are you? yes you are quite correct but when open to the public as we are it becomes more of an issue, i think Oliver was correct only one true option - shoot wife! i think we will be appearing in For Sale by this time tomorrow............may keep two and see how it goes.

Nice idea and may be worth looking at more closely actually, main concern we are open to the public as you may have noticed. The bees are currently in an area not open to the public but of course there is not an area that is not open to the bees! Not sure they would take any notice of signage...

Fraid not the eyes aint what they used to be........brood in all stages though.

It gets worse! I have no moved all bees over to a new brood box on stand as per instructions in a copy of Bee Craft - no sign of queen. Currently left with all frames except the one with the capped queen cells in new hive. seems to me this may mean I have now created a queenless colony?

No there seem to be a lot of bees, off back to the apiary now!

just in from inspecting five hives, one appears to have several capped Q cells on one frame. I had assumed that the queen will have gone as they are capped but reading the forum I should go look for the queen and then perform AS if she is there. Is it correct that she could be? If she is not I...

We have some large Yew trees on the property and I noticed today the clouds of pollen coming from the trees like smoke. Question is does the Yew interest the bees?

I really don't see what Mr Pea said or did to be ridiculed, all the poor guy said was he lost his colonies last year and this year he is pleased to see they are all alive and well. It would come as no surprise if Mr Pea declined to share his news again.

Not to late to get some more in I think. I have my first seed sown on Boxing Day now up 2" inches and repotted, sown in propagator now in greenhouse. Second batch just put in. If no greenhouse or propagator what about a plastic cloche? Have another go what have you got to lose.

Went to heft the hives but decided not to disturb them on such a fine day, besides which there were lots around and we would have been stung without suits! Watched the bees going into the snowdrops instead, most pleasant.
