My hive is right next to a field of rape. I made an inspection yesterday and I have a super with each frame well filled with uncapped honey.
The rape is in full flower and will continue flowering well into next week. Unfortunately I am away for two weeks from 28th May.
So the question is will...
I got a swarm in a bait hive in late June, and the have built up well but no honey. I took the super off at the end of August and started feeding them. On Monday, I found them swarming. I collected a big cluster and housed them, and started feeding them. I was going to put Apiguard on but now...
Thanks for the advice.
I had a look and found that no eggs laid yet so I cut out the comb and replaced with frames. They did not seem to mind too much. now used the comb in another bait hive so waste not...

I lost my colony in the winter and so I put my hive in the garden as a bait hive. I put 6 frames of drawn comb. I was away last week and when I got home at lunchtime today I discovered to my great joy that I had attracted a swarm!
I have just inspected it to find a large number of bees. So far...
I am a new beekeeper. I have one hive and I applied the OA yesterday. Today I looked at the hive and there were already a lot of dead mites on the inspection board. Clearly mites are very well controlled by this substance. When I applied it I thought that getting a direct dose onto each bee is...
I have had no egg laying for 3 weeks, but now found drone cells and what looks like a queen cell. No sign of my old queen but there again I have not seen her since March. What is the chance of the q cell producing a queen and saving the colony?
I looked at the bees this morning. The last time I saw them was 10 days ago when I had capped brood. I seem also to have quite a few drones in the hive.
I started with 5 frame nucleus last August. The colony has never really developed this spring and has now no brood, very little honey and I cant spot the queen. I have not fed this spring summer. What should I do?
