    beeboybee, if you take a look at my original post starting this thread, the question was exactly regarding the metal rails/runners. Yes infact those boxes are designed to take metal runners.

    Actually they are already on SketchUp. :) I can attach the files however I have put in some modifications to allow for the local weather etc.

    Hombre, thanks for the very informative reply. Infact, I got a reply by email from David himself. I will need 6mm runners. I've assemble the hive over a dozen times already!! Virtually on computer :) I have all the dimensions on a CAD, so I can get a good 3D view of how everything will sit...

    :confused: I don't know!! Nobody wants to tell me or they don't have a clue either!! When I ask, people just say ... 'oh, you need a wooden box!' lol Basically i joined this forum to get some info. This is not the right thread though. I'm plannng to get a colony of bees this autumn...

    Well it seems to benefit the person who came up with the Rose boxes! I dare not say they are better, but they must be as good as the rest.

    Right. I was aware the frames were different size. I am very very tempted to start with the OSB's because they are way simpler to build. However it seems that i'll have to go with normal nats.

    So if I understand correctly here, the major 'drawback' of the Rose OSB is the weight of a full super? Other than that, frames seem to be available from Thornes, so is foundation.
