    Unmated Queen and swarm

Please can you advise me. I have a swarm with an unmated Queen that issued from my Warre Hive yesterday. It is in a 5 frame nuc. There is a piece of mettle Queen excluder over the entrance. My thoughts are to feed and remove the QE piece on the third day. Will they stay and will she mate then?

Best time of the year to have tractor bang a post in next to your hives

The fence dividing my apiary/garden from the farmers land is starting to fail. Two cows got in my apiary/garden last year and the farmer says he needs to replace the corner post, (which is almost on the ground/stream bed). The post is close by a hive and the farmer says he can only access it via...

Is it just me or is it really hard to find a 4lb loaf tin on the internet? The only place I can buy one from is Amazon. No matter how many searches I make. the price is £15.00! Is this because we are not allowed to make a decent loaf of bread in this country? Please prove me...

    sewage in stream

I have seen 'RED' today and after 5 years of watching my garden stream full of washing water, of late it has been sewage! There is a blanket of brown jelly on every weed and stone. IT STINKS. The stream cuts through the middle of my garden and for years now I have watched someone's washing...

My hives all have full supers on for the winter. Their winter supply of food also includes the honey stored in the brood box. To me this replicates the wild honey bee nest. Unyet people say to nadire the super. This evening I watched as the rain drove across the fields and imagined it as snow...

Just remembering an old pub in Lytchet Minster or was Lytchet Matravers. Any, it was a really old pub and quite a big one too. Stone and thatch. white bee

Saturday I noticed a bee trying to drag something from the hive entrance. On closer inspection and aiding her struggle the item turned out to a dead white bee. Please can you advise me what this means. Was it because of the storms we are having? Is this normal or is it a sign of infection.
