I saw a drone come out of one of my hives today, I have this felling its a bit early for drones and I may have a drone laying queen or laying workers. Should I open up and have a look? my instinct tells me to wait until the days are a bit warmer

I was asked a question last night under the topic of local honey and its benefit's to certain ailments. The question that the very interested lady asked was what can She call local honey with regard to the mileage from where she lives. I said I think its based on a 20 mile radius. Was I correct?
Just wondering what the general opinion is on which way is best to have your frames, warm way or cold way? I have always been the cold way without any problems.
Firstly, Happy New Year to all. I have just finished OA treatment on my 3 hives. Two of them had 5 seams each to treat and the other had 7 seams to treat. Is this about right for the time of year? All 3 hives had plenty of stored honey.

Hung up some of those imitation wasp nests in the hedge near the hives on Thursday. They seem to have kept the little blighters away. Anyone else tried them?
