    Cbpv

Just a quick, friendly heads up to those of you with strong colonies that have been housebound for a few weeks due to the recent inclement weather. Signs of CBPV are starting to rear their ugly head in some of our apiaries. I have spoken with other bee farmers (mainly across the North West and...

    How's your summer flow doing?

Just a quick post to see how everyone's summer is developing. Over here the white clover has pretty much burnt off, there's a fair amount of rosebay out but the top flowers are nearly open and a smattering of HB in various places. At this rate it'll all be over bar the shouting in a week or so.

Anyone got an egg incubator I could borrow?

I'm hoping to get my son some hatching eggs and an ark for his birthday on 12th March and wondered if anyone within striking distance might have a poultry egg incubator that I could borrow? Anything that's not 'screen related'! Happy to pay a small rental fee in cash or honey 😁 Please email...

    Turn those hives...

At this time of year you'll very often find that the brood nest has moved towards one side of the hive and away from a good portion of the hive's stores. Particularly if there's a prevailing wind. To help avoid isolation starvation consider turning your hives 180 degrees.

    Maxant

Is anyone here perchance currently in contact with Maxant in the US? We placed quite a hefty order for shipping to the UK with them a couple of weeks ago and we're now not getting much response to emails requesting invoice/payment details etc etc

    Outsourced Bottling & Labelling

I'm currently looking in to possibly outsourcing the bottling and labelling of our own branded retail honey product and wondered if there were any recommendations out there for outfits that can take delivery of raw, filtered honey (in 300kg barrels) and bottle/label it using our artwork...

    Bum....bum....bum

Third week of May - SIX Pagden-style artificial swarms (Q plus one frame of sealed brood in the original hive position with the remainder of the brood re-located to pastures new - QCs reduced down to two and both new and old sites inspected for new QCs a few days later etc etc). Virgin queens...

    Supers at the ready......

Next week's shaping up to be a warm one with temps possibly in the early to mid 20's across parts of the UK.

    My waters are telling me.....

.....that next week things are going to go BOOM around these parts. Warmer temps forecast, hawthorn in bud, blackthorn about 3-4 days from peak flowering, OSR due out within the next five days to a week. Could take a lot of us by surprise methinks and I expect to start getting the usual swarms...

    My Dear Fellow Beeks.....

Dear All, Logging on to this forum during the last week or two has been nothing short of painful, as I am sure most of the regular punters will agree. I used to enjoy a bit of banter and the aptitude for education, teaching and learning that was once displayed here at no expense. There are...

    Apiary Barrier Fencing

I'm looking at investing in some 3-4ft barrier fencing to protect some isolated out apiaries from prevailing winds. Can anyone on here recommend any suppliers/types? Any other ideas? Many thanks in advance.
