Hi, just been out to the hive and i noticed my marked queen was walking about on the lawn with around 15 bees with her. I promptly picked her up and put her into the entrance of the hive. Was this the right thing to do? is there a new queen? What could be the cause of this?:eek:

Just opened up the hive and found 4 queen cells, I only checked the hive 5 days ago and they wasn't there then. I have crushed the cells, was this the right thing to do? I noticed a couple of nights ago that there was a lot of bees around the entrance, do you think they were ready to swarm? .....

Hi, had some unusual behaviour from my bees last night, i went into the kitchen around 10pm and theres two bees flying around, I caught them in a cup and returned them to the hive, as I shone my torch on the entrance to the hive, I could see alot of bees had congregated there, they seemed really...

Bit of a mixed reaction, do i or don't i remove the ant bait station?

We are talking of alot of ants, they even have eggs in the roof space of the hive. I've already greased the legs of the hive stand but they somehow still manage to get through it.....

Opened the hive up today and i noticed in the roof area there are alot of ants, I don't know if this is the right plan of action but i've put an ant bait station in the roof area ...... Is this the right thing to do

Just opened up the hive, got lots of brood, plenty of drone cells too. I have just put a 2nd super on, the first is nearly full, its not taken them long at all to fill the first one, at this rate my hive will look like a block of flats hehe. What would be the recommended amount of supers to add...

Thanks for the info Nick .... I think this weather has drawn us all in to thinking summers here, I have about 7 frames of brood, so i think i'll give it a week or two. I got this colony last year, and i've not harvested any honey from them, which means theres alot of honey in the BB Steve

Inspected My hive yesterday, full of bee's, a really strong colony. I've noticed that they are bringing in alot of pollen, they are thick with it. I'm contemplating putting a super on over the weekend, any thoughts? ;)

I think a good guide price for a 1lb jar is £4.99 up north and £6.99 down south ..... We must also understand that people don't have that little extra in their pockets for special treats like they did 2 years ago, and honey in most cases won't even be on there weekly shopping lists, we ALL need...
