I disagree with you with this bit of your post. Why would it be beginners with diseased stock, I know of a beekeeper of at least 15 years that had EFB and he didnt know it, he wondered why his bees were not doing very well. He also reckoned his bees dont have varoa. Also who advises beginners...

are you sure they have not swarmed before and what you have is a virgin Queen going out on mating flights. I have seen this on the odd occaision on hives I know had a virgin Queen. bee-smillie Steve

How many hive would you advise per acre?

I have been talking to the farmer where I have some of my bees about what to plant in some game strips. There is 4-6 acres so I was thinking about Borage to fill That June/July period. Does any one know where I can buy bulk borage seed from and am I right thinking I can put 2 hive per acre. Steve

That is the way I am going (14x12). My plan is to artificialy swarm them when they start showing signs of q cells that way I can double my stock and get on to 14x12. The only problem is they read the same book as we do! Steve
