    No Queen, Re-queening help!

Once you have established the Q status. If you are Q- you can introduce the Q from the nuc to the old hive and let the nuc raise a new queen or,. You can combine the lot but you will need a new brood box.

Hrlp - Brood chamber full of stores

I'm not a fan of the Demaree method for the reasons you suggest. Brood frames are more useful for brood. I would spin the frames out and get them back in circulation. If you are like me and need the space and don't't have a million nuc boxes, getting your head around using the Snelgrove board...

    Combining

Ok. So I can leave her in the top box and bleed bees to the bottom box without them fighting. What sort of gate cycle do people recommend?

    Combining

I have done an AS with Snelgrove board. I need bees back in at 5 and 10 days. I have let a queen develop in top box. Can I remove her and begin to bleed bees back into the bottom box after a couple of days.

    Snelgrove

No queen cells. I think they didn't like the fact that the box was full of foundation. I did a raid on a few hives for drawn foundation and dropped in a frame of capped brood. I found the queen under the hive and popped her back in.

Thanks for your replies. I think the problem is there were a few eggs on the frame below. I will check the status today.

    Snelgrove

Could I have your thoughts. On Wednesday I split a hive with a Snelgrove board. Old box on top. New box underneath with new foundation the queen on a frame with brood and eggs. Today they tried to swarm but returned within 20 mins as the queen is clipped. Do you think it was because it was a...

    Washboarding

My theory is that it is to confuse wasps trying to enter the hive. My colonies started to do it when wasp arrived on the scene. Only sayin.

    Clipping queens.

Clipping is a personal thing. If you are not confident picking here up use a crown of thornes to imobilize here.

    Hmmm.

I wouldnt wait for more QC. AS as soon as you can. If you have a small setup using snelgrove method 1 or 2 is good.

    Possible laying worker???

I agree that it sounds like a new queen. If the eggs are in the bottom and in the centre I would wait until they are capped. Thdn you will know gor sure.

    Advice needed

The position of ths eggs in the cells should give an indicator of wether the queen laid it or not. In the middle at the bottom is usually the queen. Although be careful as a virgin queens pattern can be a little similar to a laying worker until she gets into her stride.

    Bed time..

I am in Swanwick and mine would not be up by then. It will depend on how much sun is on the hive. If night is better for you, can you find a buddy to assist

    Swarm Help!!

Destroying queen cells is not an effective form of swarm control. They were ready to swarm and did as soon as they had a queen. You needed to use a method that woul remove the impulse. You will not know if they have a queen until you see evidence. I would put some foundation into the empty...
