Seperate new beekeepers forum section ?

Cyber Mentor I personally like the idea of a nwbie section. I would go along with JOhn's idea of a 'cyber' mentor. Without the help of my mentor at the end of the phone a year ago, i think i would have stumbled at my first herdle. Go for it admin, start the new BK section and i will be there. Colin

    Old Hive, New owner!

If you have lavae, then you had a queen a few days ago. I am in roughly the same area as you, and the weather seems oogd today, warn anyway, and no rain. You could have another quick look, and atthe same time give them some feed. Do you know if they have had their veroa treatment?

    Old Hive, New owner!

Hi Peebles, and welcome. When you opened the hive, did you notice any eggs, larvae or pupae in any of the cells. It is veru unlikely not to have a queen, and is sometimes difficult to spot, especially if she is a new queen. As for swarming, they will not swarm at this time of year.

To keep the honey on the hives over winter or not?

I am now totaly confused about what to do with the honey that is in the supers on my 2 hives. One thought is to leave it on the hives to allow the bees to feed during the winter months, another is to remove them and feed the bees, and keep the honey to myself. What do you recomend? This is my...
