Post Office - Track and Trace

This is a long shot but I am hoping there is someone out there who is more tech savvy than me who can help. I paid extra to be able to track when an important letter was delivered and signed for and entered the reference number onto the screen. It said I had to download an app. I don't...

    National Honey Show - success?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but it's close. Just found out that I got second prize for a cross stitch picture I entered into the national. Not clever enough to post a pic but it said "welcome to my bee shed" with lots of pics of bees/flowers around it. Other half said I did well to...

    Giving up beekeeping

After 6 years of happy beekeeping I have finally had to give up due to ill health. Thanks for all the advice received from forum members during that time. My bees have gone to three new beekeepers who have just completed the beginner course and to a more established beekeeping couple and I am...

    Ibuprofen and beekeeping

I have just been prescribed Ibuprofen for long term pain relief. Previous threads say that this can increase the likelihood of anaphylactic shock. My doctor says not to worry about it for the moment. If you were me would you be thinking of stopping beekeeping?

    Ladykillers: Pest Detetives

This programme is on BBC2 at 8.00 on Wednesdays. This week included a wasps nest. Next week (1st April - not it's not joke) includes a cut out of bees. The pest controller said she had not done this before, hopefully she will call in a beekeeper. Looks a fair size colony from the clip shown.

    Natural Beekeeping in Urban areas

There is a small concern near me where they grow veg etc. They say they are hoping to get a natural beekeeper to bring some bees there. This is greater London with lots of houses/school etc. As I understand it natural beekeeping means letting the bees swarm when they want to which does not...

    TV Programme

There seems to be a new TV programme/series about transporting difficult and unusual loads. The advert showed someone in a bee suit so I guess it includes moving bees. Unfortunately I did not catch the name of the programme or the channel or time it will be on. Does any one know? It is...

    Candles

Just received new Thrones TS candle moulds. More complex designs than the TS moulds I already have these ones have a split side and come with an elastic band. The band is presumably to hold the mould together while the wax sets and the split is to get the candle out without breaking bits...

    Collecting a colony

Some bees have set up home in a wheely bin at a nursing home. The plan is to cut the combs and wire to frames before installing in a hive over 3 miles away. I have not done this before. Apart from being quick because of the cold weather is there anything else I should do?

    Pension Credits

My husband is soon to lose his job. He was 62 in June. I have heard that if you are over 62 when you sign on that you get Pension Credits instead of Job Seekers Allowance. Does any one know if this is true? Do they just pay your NI contributions for you or do they give you money too? If...

    Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand

A friend is hoping to visit these places. Thinking of the weather in these places what is the best time of year to go? I am less adventurous and looking forward to visiting Camber Sands but I said I would ask for her. Thanks.

    Possible High Blood Pressure

At the moment I am having tests to see if I have high blood pressure. Online it says that although exercise is good for this you should not do such things as weightlifting or press ups. I have stopped the press up but don't do weightlifting as a sport. Does any one know if shifting supers...

    Pollen

When spring comes I am hoping to collect some pollen with kit bought in the sale. Other threads on here say this can be frozen, which is what I expected to do. Until I was told by one of the high ups at the association that it needs to be dried in the oven. He could not tell me any more...

    Beeswax candles

Had my first go at making candles from saved wax using moulds, Some of my candles split whilst cooling. Could that be because the room temp was less than the ideal 70 degrees F? Even with silicone spray it was difficult to remove candle from polycarbonate mould. Had to run it under hot tap...

    Butterfly

Went to the allotment yesterday. Lots of bees around, plus lady bird and a red admiral butterfly which seemed to be flapping a bit. Picked it up and warmed it a bit and then it flew off. What else has turned up out of season on your patch?

    K****tar Wax Melter

I have just got one of these and have been having a bit of an experiment with some old wax just so that I could get the hang of how it works. Surprisingly the instructions which seem to have been translated from German say it can be used to heat sausages, prepare drinks, cook soups and preserve...

    Pumpkins

Right I give up. Pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, pumpkin and pasta bake. So many recipes on line I don't know where to start. What do you do with your pumpkins?. Has any one got a recipe without any spices added? Something similar to carrot cake but with pumpkin perhaps?
