    Double Swarm

    I think you're probably right. One prime swarm with the old queen which I missed as I was abroad and then, on the day I returned, 2 casts. I caught one and it is now successfully hived. But neither it, nor the original colony, now have any BIAS.....so I think they are both queenless 14 days...

    I got my first nuc last Jul (national hive) and got them into the winter on a brood and a half. The comb in the 'half' was all drawn by the bees and filled only with stores; the queen never went up that far to lay! My bees seem to have come through winter well; they are flying, collecting...
