    Never used an uncapping fork.

    uncapping We used a gratton surrated bladed knive most of beekeeping life worked well for us.We only used an uncapping fork when we could not get the comb uncapped with the knive.

    Lincoln auction prices

    We put in the last of our bee equipment 73 lots and was very pleased with the prices we got. It was well attended but a bit chilly. Did not watch the bees being sold .Not many bees for sale this year.

    Contact feeder on crownboard or frames?

    We used canvas clothe with a feed hole cut in which could be opened for feeding and then closed when the feeder is removed.It was also usefull when checking frames just to pull back and expose what you wanted to see without all the the brood frames being exposed if weather was a bit cool or cloudy.

    Concerned about the cold

    cold weather The bees will withstand cold weather it is the damp conditions which causes them problems ie mould ,fermenting stores.Make sure you move dead bees from the entrance if bees cannot fly on cleaning flights.

    High varroa count after apiguard- any suggestions?

    Hi ,we found that when we do shook swarm control and put them on new foundation each year the mite drop is very low because the brood is removed and destroyed we never used the brood frames again every thing is new and fresh.

    weight of honey per frame We have extracted this week and we put in buckets 216 lbs taken of eight supers with nine frames per super which is 2.5 lb per frame.Each hive we use the shook swarm method so they all get 10 new frames and foudation so what we have taken in honey is not to bad
