i shake and brush my bees off the supers,all done in one visit.i also put feeder on at the same time.it can get a bit wild so suit up well.

what you could do is shake every bee down into the bottom box,put qx on top of that box and the queen will be in there. brood and 1/2 is overated in my view,unless you have a very prolific queen.make life easy for yourself and your bees,stick to single brood box.

look on the whole event as not about winning prizes,but a learning exercise to enable you to present to your honey customers a better product. i think it is better that a judge picks out faults than a customer does.

yes there is a import ban on bees and bee equipment (second hand).new equipment is ok,but nothing that bees have been in,even for a sort time. we can ship bees over to the uk,but not the other way round. if you do come over to the isle of man,please say hello.
