    Building a hive for filming

Long exposure will give lots of motion blur. The higher iso camera you can get the better. for faster shutter speeds. Good luck.

    Hive Web cam

You probably need to look at an iP cctv camera. As it's waterproof and designed to go outside. Runs off 12 v (so battery maybe with small solar panel) Can link via wifi If you have no router , wifi Then you will have to go, standalone I.e Record to sd card type camera or a camera with similar...

Crystallised supers - what to do.

Hi Enrico. They are off the hives, its what was spun out last year. Just not until I went through them this year I realised how heavy/full they are, compared to empty/not crystallised drawn frames. Could well be OSR, from last year.

Crystallised supers - what to do.

Did first inspection all coming on well. As an aside it is March isnt, not May? Anway a lot of my supers still have crystallised honey, they are very heavy compared to other empty drawn supers. What are the options? 1. Melt down start again. 2. Spray each well with water and put back on, for...

    Extracting honey without an extractor

I have drained a few I missed after extracting. Oops. Cut the cappings off and put frame upside down in a large container. I.e. Opposite way up to in super. Got quite a lot out and did not have to damage the drawn comb. Sent from my C2105 using Tapatalk 2

Swarm under exisiting hive - removal/rehome

Well went back last night and the bees had gone from underneath the hive. I still covered up the stand below the hive opening, just in case that stops it happening again. Added another second super below the first super, to give them more room. The hive I tried to move them to during the...

Swarm under exisiting hive - removal/rehome

Hi they do have an alighting board on the stand to give them something larger to aim for. The hive was very busy a few weeks ago, almost overflowing. Did I miss time putting the super on, due to the nice weather we have been having do you think? If they are overflow how do I get them to go...

Swarm under exisiting hive - removal/rehome

Thanks for the reply oliver90owner So there could be just the queen in the main hive and these are extending the hive them selves? Will check tonight if weather allows.

Swarm under exisiting hive - removal/rehome

Hi All After some advice, after an unsuccesful attempt to move a swarm yesterday, the thunder and lighting (plus hail stones) did not probably help. I have a swarm taken up residence underneath one of my existing hives, on the OMF. Unfortunately they are not the easiest to get to, due to the...
