    Honey Jar Labels ???

I have never really needed to buy honey labels before, I have previously designed my own and printed them off. which can be a bit fiddly. However so far this season I have had a bumper crop and will probably go down the road of purchasing my lables. Can anyone recommend a label printing company...

    Can a Superceedured Queen Swarm

I checked one of my colonies for the first time this year three weeks ago, I clearly spotted the marked Q, she was laying strong, lots of BIAS despite her being over three years old. I also noticed what I would consider to be a single open superceedure QC (no sign of the lid cap) on a centre...

    Awkward Swarm Collection

All seemed to go quite well, rather pleased so far, will just have to wait and see how things go. Think I will leave well alone now, won't move them just yet, just close the BB down to reduce the empty space.

    Awkward Swarm Collection

Yes, checked, original Q is still in the original hive, not sure if there is a Q in the swarm yet, the "swarm" bees are not from the hive, they are a different colour. Thanks for your interest.

    Awkward Swarm Collection

Discovered this growing under one of my hives a couple of days ago but am only in a position to deal with it today, consequently it has grown ! It was originally under the hive shown in the background. Never had to do this before, thought it through and this is my plan of action :- Yesterday...

Is it possible to use the same test frame twice in two separate colonies ?

Lesson Learnt ! Checked Hive 1 and Hive 2 at my out apiary earlier today (while the sun was shining !) Hive 2 :- Despite the bees trying to make QC's on the test frame I removed from Hive 1 .... I now found a small amount of BIAS (a coupleof drone cells, but mainly Worker Brood) and fresh one...

Is it possible to use the same test frame twice in two separate colonies ?

Nipped up to my out apiary today to inspect Hive 1 to see how the newspaper merg went, not good, a good mug of dead bees in front of the hive (starting to decompose). Further inspection showed they had well chewed through the newspaper which together with a QE separate the Q+ bottom box from the...

Is it possible to use the same test frame twice in two separate colonies ?

Reporting back ! Three plus days after offering my test frame to Hive 1, I found and took down 12 QS's,10 sealed (we're they working on older grubs ? ) must admit I wasn't expecting to see sealed QC,s ? As Dani suggested, I took all the cells down and have offered the same frame to Hive 2 ...

Is it possible to use the same test frame twice in two separate colonies ?

Is it possible to use the same test frame twice in two separate hives ? I have four colonies at my out apiary, two are thriving and the other two, well, I have not seen any eggs for four weeks and there is no sealed brood left, all cells are clear in both of these colonies, so, without going...

    Low in stores

Feeding back honey Hi Dani, What do you find to be the best way to feed spun off honey back to the bees ? I have in mind the in hive frame type feeder and the above crownboard rapid type feeder, but wondered if you would have to slightly dilute the honey with water in the latter ? I do...

Up and out at 4am, needed to bring back to my home (from my out apiary, 7 miles away) apiary a successful Snelgrove swarm control I did, first one I have attempted, i am pleased with the result. What did you do in the Apiary today?

Searched and found four Queens from splits/swarmes etc, marked three Blue and one Orange as this Queen was from a prime swarm that arrived in my bait box last month, so I don't know this Queens history. I bought a cylinder type marking tube, but I wasn't very successful in catching Q, I didn't...

Best place for 2nds equipment cheap brood/super boxes

Rails I bought some castellated rails, can't remember where from, but they ended up buckled and bent under the weight of the honey in the supers, the edges can be a bit sharp too, I do prefer rails, especially the ones I cut from stainless steel, ones I "acquired" as off cuts from work !
