    Stocking an observation hive

    Is it best to use an old or new queen to stock an observation hive? (4 frame observation hive BS deep) Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks Adrian

    Where is the best place to locate hives on arable land?

    Apologies if this has already been covered in another thread. Does anyone have any advice on the best place to position hives on arable land? Is it best to keep away from gateways or place them near to hedges. How do you avoid spray drift or machinery issues? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Horsley Board-opening access to top box after 3-4 days

    Does anyone else use a Horsley board? After 3-4 days it is recommended that the access to the top brood box is opened allowing bees to move freely within the hive. I presume that this is to stop things getting too congested in the upper brood box? Any thoughts? Adrian
