    Survival chances

    I have a small single hive with virtually no stores, believe they have been robbed out by the strong hive next door. I am planing to feed these fondant all winter to get them through. Is there a chance of them surviving the winter or am I wasting my time?

    move or seal up the bees

    I have a hive where the farmer is about to spray the field with roundup and gallup hi aktiv a systemic herbicide, should I move them while he sprays, keep them sealed in for half a day while he sprays or just leave them where they are. The spray will be about 15 feet away. Peoples experiences...

    How long to fill a super

    Having moved some of my bees to the HB (tons of it around here), how long will it take them to fill a super?

    Time to put the bait hives away?

    Have had a bait hive out in the garden for about a month now, but instead of attracting bees it is now attracting wasps. There has been no sign of a bee for about a week. Yes the weather has gone colder/wetter. So should I give up now and wait for next year.

    Is it normal to feed the bees to get them to draw the super foundation out or do you just leave them to it.

    Nuc boxes no good for bait hives

    Have other people found this. Swarm arrive yesterday, settled in, checked this moring and they have all gone. Can only think it was the size of the box. Have put a full size bood box in its place now. Some bees are about and showing interest but I doubt any swarm will come as it's alot cooler...

    How long to produce a nuc.

    If you ordered a nuc in December, wouldn't you expect to have it by the begining of June or by the end at the latest if a confident bee keeper was supplying it?

    Bee stings ok.

    Been stung twice in two days by bees, no reaction. Been stung twice by horse flys and the arm is swelling up nicely. Beware there seems to be alot about at the moment. :reddevil:

    Life keeps getting better

    This year I have caught three swarms and bought another nuc last night. This morning I noticed I had got ants in a small empty 5 frame nuc which had some drawn comb and a frame of honey in.     Wasp Nests in a roof.

    Queenless for over a month.

    No laying workers yet but queenless for over a month, would they now accept a brought in mated queen or would they kill her. If so should I try to raise another from eggs. :banghead:

    Requeen or not.
