    Apiary Barrier Fencing

Scaffold netting is good, and it's cheap. We used it around the association hives to great effect. 20m x 3m roll cost £45 various colours available.

    Phoenix from the flames

Just A quick update for those interested. I put these into a TB nuc with some feed and most of the bee's just kept in a ball in the corner and have not been banging along with comb building subsequently it has been hard to spot a queen. Checked yesterday after another week and found nice comb on...

    Phoenix from the flames

Got the call this morning at 9.20 from a nice asian lady asking if I could deal with a big ball of Bee's that were attached to a small tree in her sister in laws front garden. TBH - entrance?

I've got a 4' TBH which has a main central entrace on one side (3 holes), on the opposite side I put in a entrance at either side (1 hole). The thinking was that I could run a nuc from one side of the hive or introduce a swarm that I had brought on in a top bar nuc. One great thing which I would...

What is your worst experience re: bee behaviour

Looking at a bee on my veil and thinking "something looks funny about that bee" at that point I realized it was on the inside! She at the same time jumped over and pinged me on the cheek.

    Yorkshire Beehives

Paul made me a TBH which he adapted to my spec with a built in a viewing window and other tweaks, all in cedar. Top quality work at a great price, he is a great guy who used to produce all custom furniture so quality is not a issue. I could not reccomend him highly enough

    Polystyrene hive

It's just the extra hassle it involves, ordering at the wrong price and then trying to sort a refund + it's more work for the poor guy at WPF. I imagine he is under enough stress trying to sort out his new VAT status & website!
