    i can see this is going to be fun, but what is the risk of completely ruining the colony if it all goes pear shaped, if i manage to lose the queen will they produce another at this time of year? the dowel idea is a good un, taken onboard thanks, as is the double layer clothing, lol.

    hi MuswellMetro, thanks for your reply, roughly how long would it take for the queen to work her way up, if there is a queen excluder i should imagine its perished by now, but cant lift the super without it falling to peices. i'm really not sure if the old hive would support the weight of a box...
