Cheers all - time to give up

I like that idea Jack - but not being in the DBKA might be a bit difficult to fond volunteers. Mind you, if no-one buys my girls I may have to keep going anyway ;)

Address on Jar label. How specific?

When we moved last May I needed new labels, and contacted the local Trading Standards who sent 3 pages of very badly photocopied papers. I couldn't read it so phoned them again and got an actual person! They said all I needed on the front label were...The Honey Name eg: Harry's Honey, Weight in...

Cheers all - time to give up

Thanks All, Kazmcc, Pargyle, Itma, Dusty and every other lovely comments. I thought I would go on forever, until I couldn't lift a super - until I understood that people around me are more precious... I am keeping nuc boxes & suits in the hope of the odd swarm - and hopefully when we leave here...

Cheers all - time to give up

We did find a site - but at the moment Cliff (husband) and I are struggling slightly and decided that we could not face the thought of driving there, inspecting - realising we need a bit home in the shed, going back picking it up...going back annoying the bees twice etc After talking to friends...

Cheers all - time to give up

As many of you may remember, my FinL lives with us - aged 85 - and he has developed an allergy to stings...to the point we have been warned the next will be dangerous...so along with a allergic dog and increasing age - we are calling it quits and selling up all the bee stuff... We'll keep an...

    Out Apiary urgently required

I have tried the Facebook route, Streetlife etc., - no luck as yet, farms appear to be well hidden around here...being on the edge of Dartmoor you need toknow where you are going...:( But still trying. I have found somewhere 3+ miles I can put them so that I can move them back closer to me - but...

    Out Apiary urgently required

Thanks all - turned out the possible - wasn't possible, asthey ran 2 businesses from home and nowhere was more than a few feet fromthe path around the garden :( The only Freecycle around here refused my plea saying "it wasn't what they were created for"...As I am not a small-holder I am not in...

    Out Apiary urgently required

Thanks all - I may have somewhere...a house 3.2 miles away, sloped garden with flat terraces, and the previous owners successfully kept bees for years so hopefully it will work out...going to visit this afternoon. I'll keep looking more locally just as a stop gap too, in the hope I can move them...

    Out Apiary urgently required

Yep - Poor Bertie sits in the patio door and won't come out after early morning till mid afternoon! Even worse is his 'sister' a retired Guide Dog Yellow Lab., just walks straight through the hives if she can - and to our knowledge has never been stung! He just gets really flat, pale gums...

    Out Apiary urgently required

Thanks both, unfortunately I live in the last house in a cul-de-sac on a private road...so no-one sees my gate :( Even the locals don't know our house exists apparently! We have a local booklet called The Cottage, which might be an idea if we don't find something soon...

    Out Apiary urgently required

Not sure if this is the right place - please move if necessary admin :) My new dog Bertie is now definitely allergic to bee stings, and is paranoid about going outside in the middle of the day...and living on anti-histamines (or so it seems) So... I urgently need an out apiary more than 3...

    Committee???

Thanks all, I don't mind helping her at all - she only lives a short distance away, and we get on well but the group is a struggling, very divided group - and if I am honest do not want to get involved in politics or committees. I am not good at saying 'no' when approached and have ended up...

    Committee???

I have been asked to consider joining a local BKA group - by a committee member, who does not have bees yet, and has only just completed a 'very basic' beginners group, she is a lady I vaguelly know, and has asked if I can help & advise her when she eventaully gets bees -...I feel like screaming...
