Keep forgetting to ask about this. Do bees only polish cells for the queen to lay in? I'm asking because thats what everyone seems to say and I've noticed polished cells in brood comb prior to stores being put in. I'm sure most of us have but not thought much about it. Its just that I've one...

    Foragers and heavy showers?

Bees out foraging in the sunshine coming back towards home and finding it bucketing down with rain, or heavy shower at least. What do they do? continue through it or wait somewhere til it stops/eases? With the very heavy regional showers around here at the moment its made me wonder.

Can someone please tell which supplier/s sell top and bottom bars (National size) without the side bars? I've been told about someone, I thought in Somerset but cant remember who they were. As I use Rose (OSB) frames and the ones from T*****s are rubbish I've found a nice man who has made me...

Picked up a swarm this morning, already boxed by a beek neighbour who has Italians on only one brood box with 3 supers and wondered why they swarmed a while (not sure how long) after doing as A/S. Have now suggested he go to double brood or at least brood n half, when they've built back up a...
