Apologies for the LATE response! I've been busy as a beekeeper (yeah!) and haven't been on in a while. Farmers prices range from a low of UK12.90 per lb to UK16.53. The average is about UK15.50. Retail prices? The sky is the limit... and some supermarkets (and speciality outlets) do try to reach...

OK! Feel free to ignore my question about honey prices. I searched the forum and was enlightened. Thanks!

Interesting! It's on the upper limit of that here in Jamaica. which leads me to ask, is there a standard or going range of prices for pure honey in the UK? I will search the previous posts, so if there was a recent discussion, please be nice and just guide me there

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Yep! Its not unusual for the medicine to kill!

OK! Thanks for this. quite interesting! I've always wondered about the possible challenge of moving trucks/trailers though. Wouldn't you need to get permission?

    7 Beehives Stolen Llandudno

This is really sad. We have had that problem here, but it has quieted down recently. If thieves are caught with apiary products, both owners and people in the community are not very forgiving. I will leave it at that!

Yes... I have come to realize that urban areas are (generally) better for bees because of the presence of multiple trees and other plants, while rural areas are not as beneficial because of mono crops.

What is the practice in the UK in preparing honey for sale? Is it unadulterated? Filtered? ???

Thanks. The response has been very positive. I got assistance from a government agency to develop it. I want to expand it but properly just super cautious

Thanks much! I appreciate the welcome and the questions. I'm assuming that most of the group are in the UK. How is beekeeping there?

    New here!

Its warm... moving to hot... which is not good for the bees, as water isn't always available and they don't produce as well. I think I would prefer that to winter though. The thought of locking up bees for extended periods is scary!!!

Nectar is "available" year round, but not for us and the bees. Also, we do have a dearth period say May to August in some places, but there is variation according to location.

I use Langstroth Hives and have learned the hard way that you don't just have bees and collect honey. I visit at least (most times!) once every two weeks as there are numerous threats (red ants being major, wax moth, inadequate food, adverse weather conditions, birds (a new dimension to the...

    New here!

Good day everyone! I have made a cursory view of this forum and I'm honoured and delighted to be a part of it. Thanks for accepting my request. I live in Jamaica, and have been a "curious beekeeper" for over 10 years, a hobby beekeeper for about 6 and somewhere between hobby and serious one for...
