There’s someone local selling a hive with some bees. Says it hasn’t been opened for ages but the colony seems to be very busy. What sort of questions do I need to ask? Is it an ok thing to do?

I was joking about the swimming hat ☺️ I did tie it back but I’m definitely adding an alice band next time, or else one of those wide band/scarfy type things.

I’ll lend you some but I’m afraid I’ll need it back as I look like a potato without it.

So I had my first class today. So enjoyable and fascinating! Two hours flew by. I’ve been dying to get my hands on some bees. Wow they’re amazing aren’t they? Totally different seeing them in the flesh than in books and videos! Slightly disconcerting being surrounded for the first time but...

Could have spilled some. Since they’ve been in the poly tunnel I’ve got my friend to dab some in the actual hive. I think I might have to drive over and take a look. The suspense is killing me.

Should I try to shoo them out then? They’re right by the open entrance.

Will do, thanks. I didn’t think they’d find a hive in the polytunnel. That’s just where we put them together.

Yes it’s my spare. The one I’ve baited with spare comb and lemongrass oil is outside where I want them to be.

Yeah it’s hard to see. It’s a still from a video My friend sent me. They are more than it looks like. Nothing sweet and no water source in fact my friend was going in to water her plants when she found them.

Oh yes I plan to. On the off chance I’m not there, there are always people around who will call me if it gets any interest. The first whiff of a bee will have me sitting nearby waving ping pong paddles, ATC- like, directing them in.
