OK, thanks very much. We did have lots of hover fly's early last year but nothing until now.

I am not a bee keeper but there have been ver few bees in our garden until the other day. A swarm of bees were on some ivy growing on a wall. I enclose a picture of one. If anyone can identify it it would be appreciated.
