Good for toothache, yours not the bees, too! And less than a couple of quid if my not wholly reliable memory serves me correctly. So not much to lose and, like smoke detector batteries, usually needed in the wee small hours so having it lingering at the back of the cupboard no bad thing either :)

As it's done Xmas / New Year time in coldish weather I'm guesssing it doesn't kill varroa with it's vapour. Do the bees ingest it so it gets in their bloodstream and subsequently in to the varroa's bloodstream killing the pesky little mites?

If you have a friend who runs a chocolate making factory 'waste' sugar doesn't cost a bean - well maybe the price of a pint or two anyway! I realise I'm lucky but as a newbie (had my 4 frame nuc all of 12 days now!), how lucky am I as how much sugar am i likely to use in, say, a year?
