Thank you all for your comments, even hivemakers!:biggrinjester: I've been in touch with the beekeeper and hopefully we have sorted out our differences in a really acceptable way. My new post didn't come across in the way I intended and I hate to upset anyone. I will try to make it clear...

This is an old thread I know but I went to visit my friend and she showed me her small holders magazine and in it was a swarm collection service using my painting as part of their advert! So, I phoned the number to speak to the owner of the business. I asked him how he'd got it and he said it...

    Hedghogs suffering?

I don't use slug pellets at all but if you did you should put them underneath a stone/pot etc then the slugs will die and hedgehogs/pets or birds will not eat them. My garden hedgehog hasn't been around this year and I have a gazillion slugs, I'm going to the hedgehog rescue to see if they have...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Spent a nice couple of hours at Village Girls apiary, having tea and watching the girls go in and out. Very pleasant, sunny and warm, thats just village girl! Chatted about bees and put the world to rights. Nice.

East Midlands site for homeless beekeeper

What a great idea, I am also too far away and quite new to bees. Good luck, I'm sure someone here will be able to help? Have you approached your local BKA?

    beetroot and honey butty

Medium sized, about tennis ball, and for about 1/2 hour ish about 170c I would normally do it when I've got other things in the oven to save space etc. so it's not an exact science!:)

My weird food like is bacon and banana in a toasted sandwich. I can't have one until I lose some weight.

    beetroot and honey butty

I cook my beetroot in the oven, wrapped in foil. It really retains the lovely sweet flavour. Don't peel it until its cold though.

This sounds great Tony and if you need a hand, even if it's just to go and fetch the tea, don't forget to give me the heads up.

    Washing new honey jars

I would probably sterilise them by putting them in the oven for a short time as well, the way you would do it for jam making. That reminds me, the blackberries are out. I must pick some for jam. Mmmm.

    Ouch!!!

That looks as if it would be sore. I'm lucky that our bee inspector is really great and is respectful of the bees. The last time she came to see them they behaved and she didn't use much smoke.
