    Looked through my see through cover board, only about three seams of bees. Ten seams in summer, heavy with stores. Is this usual at this time of year?

    Advice on Cleaning old hives

    I try to reuse my frames boiling them in water with soda crystals and a squirt of washing up liquid. A good scrub brings them up like new. For the outside of the hives I use Ronseal Fence Life Plus, comes in various shades, keeps everything looking good 😊

    Think it could be CBPV. If they die out over winter could the brood frames be frozen to reuse or would you remove combs and boil frames in caustic soda?

    yes live bees in there, not sure how many will check under the crown board later. The hive is heavy with stores. Treated with Api-Guard 2 x 2 week late August.

    Hi, I have a situation where one of my 2 hives even after Apiguard treatment had a drop of 162 over 5 days, the other hive only 13. Any advice on what to do would be appreciated. I didn’t do a check before treatment (will remember next year)

    Treating Wax moth and grub

    My wet supers stored in the garage, sealed top and bottom, after 3 weeks had wax moth infestation. I let the bees clean up then freeze for 24 hours, it works!

    It’s not only BB they are attacking, had 2 wet supers covered over in the garage 2 wax moth and loads of grubs with the associated carnage.

    I assume your bees are in a full size hive, if so its worth making sure the hive is heavy when lifting, feeling like it's nailed to the floor when ready for winter. You may need to think about not over feeding them too early as the queen still needs somewhere to lay. Hope that helps
