Hiya John Welcome. I'm not very far from you, live in Blackburn. I'm a 2nd year beekeeper so will be nice of we can support eachother.

I tried the rolling demaree method this year and found the same. As the brood was emerging the bees filled with nector. I then transferred these frames into the bottom BB. At this stage I went double brood as the queen was very prolific.

Interesting, how is this done? Do you need to clear out all the bees first (clearer board)?

Wow a fantastic thread here with so much ew information to learn thanks fellow community. How would I avoid the bees not filling the top BB with honey, but instead filling it in the super?

Hi all Just in this topic, I inspected my hive yesterday and the BB was getting very full so I attempted a demaree, however, I only have 1 super between the bottom BB and the top BB. Will this still work?

Just a few weeks ago they had a sale on and I bought an additional 12 frame ploy hive. On sale the cost was £172. As a beginner BK, I find them easier to manage in terms of weight/lifting/moving compared to wooden. The delivery, service & returns is very good. I would recommend them.

Great thread with plenty advice and guidance! I've removed all my supers ready to extract honey and treat for varrao using Apivar strips. Can I overwinter on a single brood and place a slab of fondant in an eke? If so, would fondant sit directly on top of the frames or above crownboard?

I experienced similar at yesterday's inspection. This was from a 5 frame nuc with a 2022 queen. this s only on 1 frame. Not sure what it is and what I should do.
