    Mating flights

Couple of new queen questions: Will a queen continue to go on mating flights after she starts laying? Does she grow quite a bit after mating? I appreciate the ovarioles will grow to accomodate egg production...just wondering if there was an approximate growth as a percentage compared to the...

Polyhive OMF leave inspection tray in or partial for winter?

I've got the same set up. Stopped using the 'inspection' tray or should I say water catcher, which its good at! If I want to see where all the 'action' is during the winter or bore myself counting varroa, I stick a bit of correx, on the tray shelf.

    a great cell punch

Thanks again papa_sierra. Got a few questions, if you don't mind answering, please? For the SS what dimensions did you use, was it 9.5mm OD and 8mm ID? Do you have a website/supplier where they might sell shorter lengths of SS? Do you have a website/supplier for the poly tubing? Cheers

Thank you polymath for all that info. I have seen your detailed instructions using bullet casings, very impressive too with the level of detail, tools used and suppliers etc. I have managed to get Roger Patterson's book and you are indeed, mentioned in the book discussing the use of casings...
