I'm in Northern Ireland not near any of those areas. Every Commercial Beekeeper around me keeps buckfast. Beeks with between 200-500 hives. Some keep mixed some exclusively buckfast so even if i kept only AMM it wouldn't make a drop in the ocean.

As far as im aware any Bees moving EU/NI/UK NI authorities should be notified. I know the Bee Inspectors in NI have a 100% inspection policy when it comes to imports from Italy into NI. Although you are 100% right there is no way to know how many go where.

From what i've seen he feeds 2L every 3 days or 1L every 1/2 days depending on when he is there. He does have an awful lot of hives so it seems labour intensive.

I've watched quite a bit from his channel and he feeds little and often so doesnt use a bigger feeder. 600g per day for a sinlge brood box and 200g per day for a nuc.

When i speak to many beeks they always say damp kills bees not cold so i'm concerned that my focus on insulation is not going to be enough and i'm researching effective ventilation/humidity controls. Even on insulation i get mixed messages so i'm trying to do as much of my own research as possible.

Have you considered Mountain Camp Feeding with dry sugar? Its cheaper than fondant and helps with condensation.
