    The beginnings of a new mountain apiary.... Close enough for the bees to fly and forage but far away enough for the Baboons to stay away - hopefully.....

    Here's about 200 kgs of 1:1 syrup going out tomorrow and Saturday to apiaries.... NB! 3 of them are for wild colonies that always take such good care of our mountain flora, its my thank you and down payment for this seasons work... Just to help them along - just a bit.....

    The beginning's of a New Apiary Tucked away behind an old building over looking my new Bass breeding dam.. Black Bee colonies - very aggressive

    I have not been very active here recently as I have realised how very different bee keeping is your side.... Actually even here in SA many of our bee keepers are in my opinion stuck in their old ways... Not thats wrong, if its not broken dont fix it.... However, Im a farmer and look at things...

    Shredded plastic-backed corrugated cardboard packing - is it safe in the smoker?

    I use toilet roll inners as main starter and fuel.... just shove as much grass in ontop and around... burns a nice white smoke for ages... Take roll, pinch closed and push in + repeat

    Im very fortunate to have a good selection of winder forage here.... Good warm melted chocolate and blend of dissolved sweets. available 24 / 7 / 365 Couple of tons of slow moving syrup at least once a month Old fashion assortment... Every day - All day This is what my "quarantined" colonies...
