    Jar Prices 2024.

Please can you send me a link to that deal, I have looked again on the Hobbycraft page and do not see a 36 pack or a deal price on the 12 pack. The only 280ml jars I can find are the ones I previously quoted at £9 for 12. Cheers...

    Jar Prices 2024.

I went to old castle farm this year, taking delivery cost into account it worked out at 61p per jar. I found hobbycraft to be the most expensive at £9 per 12 making them 75p if you collect. I see no bulk discount but they currently have a £5 off for £15 spend - not sure if you could reuse that...

    Honey extraction services

Absolutely he is. I had presumed as you hadn't come to that conclusion before starting the thread that you didn't want to reduce your hive count for whatever reason - second income and/or you had an outlet for the honey for example. I got up to a dozen hives a couple of years ago. I found it...

    Honey extraction services

If you are unable to find a suitable service and are a member of the local BKA maybe its something you can spin (see what I did there) into a training thing for new beekeepers (or just an opportunity for a few extra quid from more experienced beekeepers), I would suggest paying them for their...

Instant vap, used for first time

Does a 2amp car battery charger work with these batteries? Or do you need a specific charger?

Instant vap, used for first time

Still haven't had the guts to buy a battery and try out my varrox! I think I need to check out some videos on utube and source a battery (thinking one of those car jump start type things rather than an actual car battery due to weight).

    Harvest

I dislike extraction time too (I thought I was alone in that!), happy but also slightly disappointed that this is my biggest crop lol. It is nice when its all jarred up and labelled though. I bought a new drill for my extractor so I can rotate between two now to not over heat one too quickly!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Removed the 'demaree' BBs (laden with honey) and swapped out some empty frames in active BBs with the stored honey and put the rest in store for later feeding. Continued labelling up jarred honey - looks like this will be my biggest crop to date (with one of the lowest number of hives in a season).

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Fantastic advise. Wasn't sure how they would fare but if its good enough for you its good enough for me - thank you.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Removed all supers and extracted over the weekend. Found that I have three brood boxes full of honey (had used them to demaree and didn't remove them (doh!) - my extractor cant take brood frames... any ideas what to do with it? I thought swap out with any empty in the active BB's and maybe...

    Beetight is closing down

If you really want to develop your own but have limited tech skill, maybe Microsoft forms will do enough for you? You can create questions with set answers to pick from etc and also insert free text boxes and its available on mobile.

    Beetight is closing down

I use a piece of paper / card / smoker fuel because I forgot my paper+ photos in the field, sometimes I write on the hive in chalk then take a picture, then write it up on a spreadsheet. Briefly went on the beetight website - if you have been using it like the OP you can download your data in a...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

All hives doing much better than last week. The one I gave some full super frames to have now built up more stores so that's good... or should have been... this is the hive that is 'grumpy' I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt but my patience is now wearing thin. I should have replaced...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

During last weeks inspection I found one colony really low on stores but I was short on time and it was my out apiary so I juggled a few super frames around with the neighbouring hive to give them some stores. Out to check again today/tomorrow.

    EFB already?

When I told her where my other hives are (on the Somerset levels) she said they were fine and she didnt need to visit there.

    EFB already?

She rang me about two weeks ago due to disease in the area, maybe not efb then. It was for my hives that were based by the ymca so Durlegh side of Bridgwater.

    EFB already?

I know the SBI wants to inspect hives in Bridgwater too. I have given up my out apiary there so doesn't affect my current hives but have given a heads up the beekeepers I know in the area

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I like that idea. Only downside I can see is if I do not find time to check then I could end up with an extra mated queen. I am sure I have a couple of coverboards laying around and a plastic queen excluder I can cut up.

    Dealing with old comb

I use my solar oven with a j cloth filter. Chuck them in then forget about them. When its cool I have a block of wax ready for further cleaning
