    Bee stings

£16 well spent I think, I'll have to start taking some tweezers with me I think, I doesn't say anything about what may reduce the swelling and itchyness though, any tips would be more than welcome.

    Bee stings

Well I think I may have just answered my own question reading my Haynes manual, both times the stinger stayed in for about 5 minutes each.

    Bee stings

Over the past 2 1/2 month I've lost count of how many times I've been stung and, one day I stupidly went up in shorts and a t-shirt and got stung 19 times, it didn't bother me one bit and I've been stung about 13 times since then, I have now bought a better bee suit that I put on everytime...

    Sugar syrup question

I don't know if mine is the right or wrong way but for the 2 1/2 months I've been beekeeping all I do is 1.5 (1.5kg) bags of white sugar in a bowl the night before I feed them, cover the sugar by about 3cm with boiling water and stir every 5mins until it's desolved, leave it overnight to cool...

    Honey in the brood chamber

Thanks enrico, there's a guy who I used to know a few years ago that still does it and he lives about 20mins away from me so I'll go and give him a knock, it's probably just me being overdramatic about it, but yes it is a shame you don't live a bit closer, so what indication would I get if I do...

    Honey in the brood chamber

I just presumed that with the gathering outside and the all the honey in the BB that this may sway the to swarm and move on (Do excuse my lack of knowledge as this is my first time beekeeping an I think I have just jumped in at the deep end with not much knowledge). I didn't check all the...

    Honey in the brood chamber

I went to inspect my langstroth hive today and it looks like they are filling up the brood chamber with honey as the 3 frames I pulled out had a good bit of capped honey in them all around the edges, I've put a second honey super on top of the near full bottom one, but am I correct in thinking...

    Congragation

I did look at the haynes manual before I set up but wasn't sure how credible it would be as I've always had that brand for car manuals and they haven't always been great for that, I take it it is good book then?

    Congragation

It's not during inspection they come out, there already out when I get there.

    Congragation

I'm local to Bakewell in Derbyshire, I don't know about any beekeeping associations, to be honest I didn't think there was anything else I needed to do before I started once I had everything to go, all I thought I would need to do was call my bee supplier who I got my package from if I had a...

    Congragation

Thanks erichalfbee, I haven't looked in the brood chamber for about 2 weeks and last time I looked in I didn't really know what I was looking at, all I knew is that it was very busy in there and that it disturbed them and had them going a bit crazy, what should I be looking for? As for the new...

    Congragation

I'm new to bee keeping and I've had my hive now for about 2 1/2 months, there doing pretty well and I'm not overly concerned about anything as they have filled and capped 7 frames of the 9 frame super, however the last 3 times I have been up they seem to be congragating round the entrance and...
