    Birthday Card Joke.

I read the joke as bees are aware that stinging will cause their own death and it would be sensible to only sting to protect the hive. However they would find stinging somebody on top of a ladder minding their own business so tempting they could not resist. So the punchline is that bees are evil...

    Dealing with hell

Newbie question: In this situation, when adding the frames of eggs and brood to the empty brood box, would you add them along with nurse bees attached? If so, won't the returning nasty fliers attack them? If not then wouldn't there ne no nurse bees to tend to the introduced larvae?

    Help finding a comfortable beesuit

Sheriff does look very good and they do custom sizes too. I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend over £100 but will happily do so if it means I have a suit that is comfortable :) I like how sheriff do a variety of colours too. Thanks for the help all!

    Help finding a comfortable beesuit

Looking at the Thornes website I don't see them stocking different brands to try.. would you recommend their suits for comfort? Abelo is closer to me than Thorns, and I went earlier this week too but since I had alreat ordered one online I didn't try any on. Regretting that now! Doh!

    Starvation allert nbu

I'm really feeling for new beekeepers. Some of the contacts I made this year at the beginners course who have only had their 1st colony a month or so are struggling a bit with this persistent bad weather. Also I took 2 weeks annual leave, how very dare it rain so much! :laughing-smiley-004...

    Help finding a comfortable beesuit

I seem to have made a mistake in going with a cheap beesuit. I got one for just short of 30 quid from simon the beekeeper but the sizing seems off to me. In order to fit my hips and legs into the bee suit I need to go 4 sizes higher than I normally would need and as a result the top half is so...

    Super Storage

While on the subject of wax moth and storage- is wax moth something to worry about with stored foundation sheets or frames made up with foundation? Or do they only tend to go for drawn out comb?

    Bee bombs

Haha I must admit the 1st thing that popped I to my head was the mental image of people chucking grenades full of bees about.. I agree they do seem very gimmicky and "trendy". The other year they had big shaker boxes of seeds at home bargains for about a quid. Not sure if they're there this...

    Bee bombs

Sorry if this isn't the appropriate section to post about this, I'm new. I was wondering what people's opinions were on bee bombs. I would post a link to their website but it won't let me as my post count isn't high enough. Just Google bee bomb. I have seen them advertised a lot and wondered...

Thank you for the welcome :) I plan on taking lots of photos.. partly because if I manage to assemble it without losing any fingers I'll be pretty proud of myself! Knowledge of woodworking seems to go a long way in this hobby. I'm lucky to have a couple of friends and family members who are...

    Just starting up in Sheffield

Hello all, I'm new to the forum but have done a lot of reading around the subject of beekeeping. I have wanted to keep bees for a long time and this year I have gone ahead, done a beekeeping course and bought a hive! So excited but would be lying if I said I wasn't a little anxious too. So...
