    Hobbies?

Obviously, I love my bees dearly, but I also, like many people grow veg. I also like gentle pursuits such as knitting, crochet and sewing. I'm going to try my luck with watercolour painting soon, but the thing that takes up by far the majority of my spare time is killing other players in a...

    NHS Covid App

Okay, let me rephrase... The government gave £12 BILLION to somebody to build it and this happens.

    NHS Covid App

Seriously!? The government gave £12 billion, that is 12 000 000 000 to Serco to develop that thing and this happens? £12 thousand million and they can'tget it right. Just let that sink in.

Advice on setting up a bee shed?

They may, but better they're inside the shed and accessible than up in a tree or someone's fascia boards

Advice on setting up a bee shed?

Yep, got that. There's electricity in the new shed so when we're in there we'll have lights to work by, but when we're not they have a large gap to fly out through at the top

Advice on setting up a bee shed?

Yes, they will have an extended entrance from the outside to the hive Entrance, made from plywood, and a couple of holes on the outside of the shed onto which I will screw some rotating reducers, the kind normally used on polynucs. Inside the shed there is a ventilation gap so they can get...

Advice on setting up a bee shed?

I am in the very fortunate position of having found a landowner who thoroughly supports having my bees there. Recently, I mentioned that I had thought about getting some sheds in which to house the bees, meaning we could inspect even when the weather was less kind and the hives would have some...

    Illegal vaping and new laws

To be fair, I have only just looked at this thread and also had no idea what it was about until you have posted this explanation. 🤷‍♀️ It wasn't clear at all.

    Nationwide abandoned hives.

This is exactly why I think some people don't register on BeeBase, apart from the fact that it's a pain in the posterior to use. Perhaps people would register, though, if it were tied to some kind of meaningful insurance scheme. I.e. you have to register were they are kept in order to maintain...

What's wrong with local bees? :)

How long from virgin do people generally see increased aggression in bees? is it straight away or does it take time?

I'm late to the party on this discussion and it has moved on slightly; but wouldn't kingspan encourage condensation?

    sugar price.?

Highly regulated, yes, but some countries (IIRC: Spain and France) have given blanket permission for producers to use nenonics. And beyond Europe... well, that's just what people voted for, apparently :sneaky:

    sugar price.?

Farmer's Weekly just ran a piece on how the government have allowed more imports of sugar, which will apparently benefit imports and Tate & Lyle in particular, but that British Sugar can't compete because EU farmers in some countries have been allowed to use nicotinoid treated seed but UK...

    Huge difference in water content

I was thinking that it would just help to evaporate the moisture from the surface. When I thought about it, it was to put uncapped supers (not yet spun) into the device to draw off the moisture,so that the water content was reduced and therefore less likely to ferment.

    Huge difference in water content

I've often wondered if we could use a dehydrating cabinet, the sort used to make biltong for example, to help evaporate some of the excess moisture. Has anyone tried this?

    Facebook

It's mine too for all of the reasons mentioned in the previous replies. I have the DDG extension for using with Chrome on my work pc, and it really highlights how many websites have snooping practices. I also have it on my android. There's only one thing I don't like about it and that is if...
