Bees Will Do The Strangest Things

So yesterday afternoon I noticed a small swarm down by my hives/nucs. Not being to concerned and due to inspect today I left them to it. I started looking through the nucs some have been up and running for some time and I thought perhaps 1 had swarmed, I’d checked the bush they had been buzzing...

    Full House?

Looks like a possible full house for this lot, let’s hope it continues although the little fits will probably tear a couple down😡 Also a couple of mating nucs getting the cells from another batch. They’re made up with a single frame of sealed brood and about four other frames of bees shaken in...

    Anyone Near Chard Somerset

Hi are any of the forum regulars near Chard. I’ve a friend that’s just had a Swarm move in to a wall beside front door. I’m thinking a quick application of beequick to the cavity may push them out. They are happy to cover costs…..and it’ll save me a trip😂

    First Swarm Sweep Stake!

Ok we’ve obviously no idea what the weathers going to bring. I looked in a few hives yesterday and I think they are a good couple of weeks behind on the last few years. Take a punt and have a guess when the forum gets its first report of this season. Yes your allowed the same date as others...

    INSTANT VAP

So I brought 1 a month or so ago and have to say it’s brilliant. Super fast ultra convenient and very easy to use. The whole unit feels very solid and well put together, about 2 days after I got it I actually dropped the vap on the garage floor nozzle first, didn’t even bend😂 I picked up the...

    English section frames

I’m considering a few sections although I must admit the standard boxes offer pretty crap presentation. Racks waste a lot unless the bees are really jammed, a frame or 2 in super boxes are normally nicely completed. Have any seen well priced frames for sale?

    Roof Ideas Pls..

So I have a plan for some simple 6 frame nucs. The best solution for a roof atm is probably using them in pairs making an eke that overlaps like a wbc lift and using one of those plant trays. That would then enable feeding/fondant and roof cost would be about £12..Do any have any simple cheap...

    Masks/filters for oxalic

Just an FYI..I sent a mail to 3M regarding oxalic use and what they recommended, this is the reply. “Based on the information provided and without prejudice, I would suggest that you evaluate a 3M 4255+ maintenance free respirator or a 3M SecureClick HF-800 reusable half mask fitted with 3M...

    UFE Question

A quick question or 3 regarding Jenks floors With use on a full size hive have any found the need to shut the full slit opening down. If so how have you made something that can be adjusted. I’ll probably running some nucs in full boxes either up one end or centrally as they build. Do any have...
