    Building comb?

If the fondant hole was above the brood nest then they will be expanding the nest upwards. Same here, even had eggs.

    Honey on 'country'file

Would have been far more informative if they tested a jar of cheap honey from a supermarket.

Feeding Brace comb back to the bees

I have a quantity of brace comb with unsealed honey. I propose to feed it back to the bees in English feeders, with the central cover removed, over a crown board. Would this method be considered appropriate or are there any more suitable methods?? There is still a Borage flow on, but now...

    Cleaning Supers

I had a similar problem with some crystallised osr left after extraction. Put the super under the brood box for a couple of days, all cleaned out, then removed for reuse.

Found this on our front path so hope to see the moth sometime next year. I placed it among next door neighbour's fuschias.

Swarm control, can't find the queen

Thanks everyone for the advice. At last inspection Tuesday there were queen cups, so far without eggs. There are 4/5 frames of BIAS and a couple of undrawn frames in the brood box. My intention was to use the method outlined in the Apiarist link from Boston Bees, Stage 1, AS without finding the...

Swarm control, can't find the queen

I have reason to believe that my single broodbox National hive is planning to swarm. I have searched for the queen but have never seen her. There is ample sealed brood and eggs. I am planning to use the Pagden artificial swarm method. My query is, when it says to move the parent hive more than a...

Good news for bees - Cotoneaster being promoted as a pollution buster

And it attracts large numbers of queen wasps as they emerge from hibernation.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Both moved this afternoon. One came out for a fly around when block removed from entrance.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I need to move 2 National hives about 300 yards. I am aware of the 3m/3mile guide. The closest "parking" spot would be 8 miles away down country lanes. I am worried that the uneven roads may cause the clusters to break. Would a direct move be safer since the temperatures are forecast to remain...
