What did you do in the Apiary today?

I'll be putting out all of my brood boxes tonight. Possible -8 should kill off wax moth

    Better Strap the Hives Down….

My wheelie bin is more accurate. Wheelie bin is hot = sunny Wheelie bin is wet = rain Wheelie bin is cool = overcast Wheelie bin is white = snowing Wheelie bin is moving = earthquake Wheelie bin is missing = Tornado or stolen

What to do with old brood frames full of honey

Yes I've never understood the need to replace all brood comb every 3 years. If you know you haven't had any disease, why would it be necessary?

    Thymol death syrup

You can remove the plastic cone that sits on top and fill the feed with straw.

    Thin to thick

It doesn't have to be an exact science.

    Jar Prices 2024.

I am also needing to buy some jars. I am trying to decide whether to move from hex to round jars and 12oz to 1lb. What do your customers prefer?

Just out of curiosity, was it the demeree method that you used?

    Delay introduction of bought queen?

When a queen introduction fails. Most of the time it is because there is already a virgin queen in there. New beekeepers become impatient and start to panic because they haven't seen eggs for a couple of weeks and buy a queen. I know because that was me in my first few seasons. I had a colony...

My own queens have defensive workers

Are you still down the road?

My own queens have defensive workers

I have the same issue but not with every queen. I made about 4 or 5 splits this year and only one turned nasty, really nasty. She has been replaced.

New warre beekeeper and harvesting question

I enjoy watching Keith Delaplanes really cheesy 90s beekeeping videos on youtube. Very nostalgic

    Clearing bees the Canadian way...

I think I'll stick to clearer boards

    Harvest

I love the smell in the room while the honey is spinning out.

    Buying first hives

I currently have Hoffmans in my nationals and Langstroths. I dont think castellations are an option in langstroth supers. They don't seem to sell them anyway. Nice fat honey frames look nice

    Buying first hives

What's up with Manleys? I was just considering using them. I want the wax drawn further to make it easier to uncap than Hoffmans.

    Passionate Beekeeper looking for work

£27k? Same as I'm in IT. Shame they are not in East Norfolk. I bet lifting frames for 8 hours a day is murder on the upper back and shoulders though.
