hi after losing my bees a couple of weeks ago is it too late in the year to start again? the queen stopped laying and they dwindled away so should I wait till next year? I've been promised a colony from a friend but as of now they haven't arrived so can anyone help cheers ken:thanks:

I don't know why last year I put a super on as the queen was laying like mad but now the bees are up in the super and the brood box and its frames are empty?

hi well, my bees did ok this winter when I opened up the hive a few weeks ago on a warmish day i had about 6 full super frames full of bees but over the last few weeks, the bees seem to get fewer. an experienced beekeeper helped me clean up after the winter and she said the girls were doing ok...

mountain sugar method well I must have done the right thing feeding my bees the mountain method my bees survived the winter and some other beekeepers bees didn't make it even feeding them fondant cheers ken:hurray:

old hives from around 1920 hi last year I bought some beekeeping equipment including 3 old hives which the guy selling them to me they belonged to his great grandfather in 1920 don't know what kind as I'm new to beekeeping cheers ken:cheers2:

hi it was warm yesterday and saw a few bees coming out of the restricted entrance hole so i removed the restrictor only to find a layer of dead bees on the hive floor, i took a peep under the crown board it was full of healthy bees i scraped out the dead bees and then lots bees flew out and went...

hi the mountain style is to save having to make sugar cake,a sheet of newspaper over the frames with room to let bees pass,then raw sugar on top and spray lightly with water and it sets a hard coating,the golden syrup is from the wholesalers

hi overthe last week or so there has been a lot of dead bees on the flight board ive been in the hive to feed them this morning and they look spot on so why the dead bees outside the hive? cheers ken:thanks:
