    Bad buying experience with Oz-Armour

The suit itself is a good loose fit. I'm pretty sure the veil is faulty it's buckled out of place.

Hah amusing. To me my head doesn't look that big, but then it's difficult to find hats that actually fit. I am quite a big person in general so I suppose my large head doesn't look so big because it's proportional to the rest of my body.

    Bad buying experience with Oz-Armour

I'll look into what I can do regarding consumer rights here. It's too far to visit. What kind of plastic guard are you thinking of? I was wondering about that but not sure how I'd do it. I'm not sure if mine has a plastic spacer, maybe that's why it's defective? @ Beefriendly: I requested the...

    Bad buying experience with Oz-Armour

Here's the email exchanged that happened: 18 Jul I recently purchased an expensive beesuit that was advertised as having a unique veil design, that's supposed to keep the mesh away from the face. I used it for the first time the other day, and out of the half a dozen or so beesuits that...

    Bad buying experience with Oz-Armour

I bought this beesuit in July: https://www.beekeepinggear.com.au/product-page/beekeeping-suit-oz-armour-ventilated-double-layers-super-cool One of the things that particularly caught my attention with this suit was this line: -Unique design Veil has a hard plastic insert on the top of the...

    Determining apiary site location

There's many farms around. There isn't any in the urban area, there might be an olive plantation nearby at my country place (the one that isn't doing well) though I'd have to confirm; do bees even like olive trees? The block far out doesn't have any farms close enough. I'm a little bit wary...

    Determining apiary site location

I live in South Australia. No Jarrah here. My beehives did seem to do better in an urban set up I initially had, compared to where I've placed them in the country.

    Determining apiary site location

I live i Australia, where migratory beekeeping is standard. I don't like the idea of moving my bees around everywhere, mostly because it's a pain to do and I'd need to purchase a more suitable vehicle or trailer. I'd really like to have apiary sites established that I can keep bees there...

Capped honey from ruined SHB hive

I'm not waiting for the answer that I want. The mouses came overnight unexpectadly. You're all being very rude.

Capped honey from ruined SHB hive

Regulation is different in South Australia, it changed in 2015 when SHB started to pop up in the state. I'm not disregarding anything, I chose to use this site to assist in making a more informed decision. I don't like the way people have been communicating to me here. Making soem assumption...

    Mouse poop in honey

I am crushing my combs, but I'm looking to acquire an extractor somehow by the time Spring arrives! :)

Capped honey from ruined SHB hive

There sure is a lot of passionate, almost hostile banter and conflicting information being thrown around here.

    Mouse poop in honey

If I used it to feed starving bees swarms, wouldn't it be mostly used for nourishment and to build comb, and then stored away in the brood chamber where I wouldn't extract honey from?

Capped honey from ruined SHB hive

Awhile ago one of my hives was entirely decimated by Small Hive Beetle. I went through the hive, extracting all the clean looking *sealed* comb, and discarded everything else. Some maggots got in the bucket, I didn't realise SHB had killed them at the time. Now I've got this bucket with a good...

    Mouse poop in honey

It's what the beekeeper I volunteered with used. Some googling searching has found something similar to his setup: http://www.beesource.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/chsthetr.pdf Only, he simply used an oil heater, instead of lights. I too wondered about the heating and I asked him about...

    Mouse poop in honey

Very entertaining :D The kitchen had more of a mouse problem than the shed did. Can't really do it in the kitchen anyway. I've been thinking about moving my operation to another premise, I've been offered a shed that I can use solely for honey. He mentioned though that it gets mouses out...

    Mouse poop in honey

Where else am I meant to do it? My bathroom?

    Mouse poop in honey

I was straining honey in my shed overnight, I noticed it the following day. The mouse appeared to have walked into the strainer, and crapped overboard (didn't actually go into the bucket). My online identity is not associated with my local self so I'm not concerned about any of that. I am...

    Mouse poop in honey

Suddenly have a mouse problem, and I find that bucket of about six kilos of honey has about five small nugs of mouse poop in it. It was sitting in it for about a day. What should I do with the honey? Can I store it, and feed it to the hungry bee swarms I'll be capturing in the Spring? Or do I...
